I'm a little fed up with my rear exhaust silencers / tailpipes on my little 3.6 . Theres nothing really wrong with it, The main reasons I'd like a change is that it sounds a little bit, for want of a better expression, 'put-put' at idle, and also I don't feel the standard tailpipes, (especially with their angles making it very difficult to get the two pipes looking symmetrical) are macho enough for a car with performance pretentions.
I'm not really a 'purist' but I prefer to fit Jaguarsport / TWR parts where I can (I have the TWR spoiler and my speedlines are ready to be fitted) and I know that the XJR-S models had some rather smart looking twin tailpipes which might be just the job.
Does anyone know if the XJR-S backboxes are the same and if the backboxes / tailpipes are still readily available? Or does anyone have any other suggestions, bearing in mind that I wouldn't want anything too noisy or ostentatious.
Thanks,
Jonathan

Jonathan,
The six cylinder cars seem to respond well to a change of centre pipes with straight-through ones. These replace the standard ones that have ex. boxes, add some extra mid-range urge and sound good without being excessively noisy. AJ6 engineering do some good ones in stainless and can match them to their rear boxes. Apparently the major restriction flow is in the centre boxes rather than the rear ones.
Hope that helps
