Cooling system top up and anti freeze ratio 1988 V12

Postby wolf » Wed Feb 21, 2007 4:04 pm

My computers gone wibble and i can't access my cd roms. I gather that both rad caps are 16 psi from looking at other posts but can anyone tell me what water / antifreeze ratio to use and how to refill the system. Also am i correct in assuming that one shouldn't use Barrs Leak or similar? Thanks,

Hi Richard,

"55% concentration (5 parts Anti-freeze to 4 parts water)"

Also, interestingly, "Radiator leak inhibitor (Jaguar Part No 12953) - 14-oz container per car." whatever that means?

I think there should be 2 types of radiator cap; one 16PSI and one 20PSI, the 20PSI at the front and 16PSI on the exspansion tank. Jaguar specs have changed from "under no circumstances should these be changed" to both are the same. I guess if the system does go over pressure I would rather it spill out at the side than all over the engine v. And, if you want a 20PSI cap then Halfords part HRC610 is the one.
