Hi,
My XJS 6,0 coupé has a superb ride over 100 km/h, but at low speed its not that comfortable, and you feel road imperfections well.
Years ago I used to own a late 3,6 coupé, and it behaved in the same way.
Is this the way the XJS behave? I believe both the 6,0 liter coupés and the late 3,6 liter coupés are equipped with sports suspension. Could that be the reason?

The Sports Suspension components are very different on the 3.6 & 6.0 litre cars. However, all late 6.0 litre cars do have what is referred to as Sports Suspension. The major components are the Bilstein shock absorbers, however, they also had Pirelli P600 (now P6000) tyres with a slightly lower profile (225/55) which gives a slightly stiffer ride.
You can get a noticeabley different ride using tyres that are slightly more compliant. The late 4.0 litre convertible cars had "Touring" suspension which included P400 (now 4000) tyres which had a slightly higher sidewall which "gives" a little bit more flex (225/60). You might want to try these if you don't like the current ride characteristics.
Hope that helps
Paul

Hi Patrick,
I've a 3.6 coupe and I've just always presumed the hard ride is normal for the XJ-S.
I've got used to it now but my father in-law always jokes about it when he drives it to the MOT station for me (if I can't get there) he says it drives like a brick! lol

Thanks for your answers.
I don't have a problem with the hard ride of the XJS. I just wanted to make sure this is the normal behaviour of these cars.
Thanks!
