What tyres to fit?

I quite agree that the correct P600 tyres are expensive, however.

For purists to originality, I notice National Tyres are currently showing them as available, although at £272.48 each

Sounds like an interesting alternative. What are the speed and load ratings of the tyres you used?
I would recommend that you inform your insurance company that you no longer have standard wheels and tyres as it could give them an excuse not to pay out should you need to claim.

Assuming someone opts for 225/60 instead of 235/60, would it be acceptable to just change a pair (same axle) or must all 4 be the same?

The spare also comes into question as following a puncture I suppose, as you could end up with two different sizes on the same axle. Having to buy five tyres at once would be costly.
