Different wheel nut sizes

Bit of an odd one, this: when I got my car back from the place that repaired the bodywork, I noticed there was a wheel nut missing. I reported it and they kindly sent me a couple of replacements, however they appear to be slightly bigger than the original ones on the car.

The originals fit a 22 mm socket fairly snugly, however, the replacements are very slightly bigger and the socket won't fit.

Is there a size difference between pre-facelift and facelift cars?

I've got a box full of Austin Rover wheel nuts in my workshop, but sadly not a single 22 mm XJ-S one...

A few suggestions:

- There are 3 different Jaguar wheel-nuts that can theoretically fit XJS wheels. One of the wheelnut types does not have the chamfered shoulder that is necessary to fit some of the wheels. Make sure you have the right type for your car.

- There are 2 different lengths. The shorter ones can bottom out on some of the various wheel types than fit the XJS, giving the illusion atht the wheel is tight (until you start to drive it!) Again, make sure you have the right type.

- The nuts have a chrome or stainless hex cap over a steel hex nut. The nut can corrode causing the hex cap to swell making it seem as if the standard socket does not fit properly. This may be what you are experiencing. Although unsightly, you can remove the hex chrome cap and just fit a socket to the underlying nut.

I can confer with Paul on this. Most frustrating to find a "swollen" wheel nut. Our well known supplier of all things Jaguar can provide new quite reasonably.
