xjs convertible scuttle shake

Hi I am new to this so bare with me, I have recently bought a lovely 1990 xjs 5.3 v12 convertible pre face lift model to go along side my celebration coupe, the car suffers quite badly from scuttle shake and I have heard if you fit the facelift front crossbrace it fixes this? does anyone know anything about this? or where I can get one from etc? thankyou

with regard to your scuttle shake, yes, they are known for it

braces can be installed and it pretty much eliminates it, however, make sure all the ones that should be there are there to start with

someone with a similar car to you will come along soon , as i have a coupe

This is a frequent topic of conversation. As I understand it, there are 2 potential difficulties in fitting a facelift front x-brace to an early car:

- Changing the front jacking points (the rear of the x-brace is fixed here) to the later screw-type
- Fabricating front mount points and welding the front subframe

You might be better off exploring the Harve-Bailey Engineering retrofit x-brace which was marketed before Jaguar developed their own. I THINK that you can still buy the kit from HBE.
