Central Facia Vents

Hi,i have no air coming out of the two outlets in the middle of the facia .The heater works in demist and footwell areas.Is there access to the rear of these outlets without a Major stripdown.Thanks Bernard

The heating/climate system on all modern Jaguar models is complex. The core of the system is the dash console unit which controls all the other system components. It has been known to have melt down issues which may affect some or indeed all the surrounding services.

Just because you have no air at the vents, does not necessarily mean the fault has anything to do with the vents, ducting or motors. I would resist attempting to strip out the dash until an electronic diagnosis has been done. A Main Dealer, Independent operator or garage equipped with suitable diagnostic equipment will be able to undertake this for you. Alternatively, some of the more up-market DIY scanners may have the capability to diagnose the issue.

Resist the temptation to strip out or buy parts in the hope that you will cure the issue. The only cost and time effective way of approaching this problem is to get a diagnosis performed. It is all too easy to spend a pile of cash on replacement parts which may be serviceable on the car.

For every fault, there is a cause. You need to diagnostically find that cause before going further.

Try this Manual Blend Flap Doors reset (Barn Door Motor Flaps reset) which has worked for some people.

• Select full cooling - Lo
• Select full heating - Hi
• Back to full cooling - Lo
• Select Face followed by Floor
• Then select Face again
• Finally select Defrost

Blower should speed up and down through the settings and air delivery points should alter as appropriate.

Do you happen to know how the blend flaps are actuated. Is it by electric motors or vacuum.
I am familiar with the early Delanair system but not a clue with the S type -- fortunately mine works OK

No I don`t. My first post details the electronic importance which may or may not be relevant. However, diagnosis is as always the prime place to start.
