CD player head unit in dashboard--Removal

Does anyone have any idea how to remove the Radio/VDU/CD unit in the dashboard. My CD unit has given up the ghost,
It suddenly made some mechanical noise like something parting company and stopped working.
A replacement seems likely although I want to take it to bits first to see what broke and if it's repairable.
Any suggestions would appreciated. My car is a 2005,2.7d S-Type

Its actually pretty easy... I did it last night to look at the back of the radio unit to see what kind of aerial connector it had.

You simply need to remove the surrounding padded trim around the stereo and gear select and then you will see the mounting bolts for the CD etc.
First remove the inside of the central arm rest - there are 2 torx screws, one at the front and one at the back and simply swing the box out of the way as two of the padded trim clips are underneath the front edge of this box.

Now using a blunt lever (I used a wide screwdriver with the blade covered in masking tape) prise off the leather padded trim around the stereo starting at the top and then the two sides, lastly ease up the area just in front of the central arm rest. The leather trim can now be removed. Once this is removed you will see the CD and Radio bolts. Took me about 10 minutes once I had worked out what I needed to do.
