FM Modulator (not transmitter) for Ipod

Like many others, I would like to connect my iPod to the standard Jaguar radio but I have never had much success with FM transmitters (probably because I live in London and all the frequencies are in use). An FM modulator is different to a transmitter and is physically inserted in-between the aerial and the head unit. The blackbox then weaves its magic when turned on and your Ipod audio replaces the feed from the aerial. Problem is that there are two systems with different aerial connectors - The round "RCA" plug or a square "FACRA" connector.

I have a 2006 car with the Navscreen and single CD but what I dont know is what kind of aerial connector it has. Does anyone know please otherwise I will need to pull out the radio and take a look.

I can advise that it is a FACRA socket. I will advise on how the FM Modulator performs when it arrives

I can advise that the FM modulator from "Connects2" is a very easy installation, requiring only a 12v feed and mounting of the Audio jack "somewhere". I chose to mount that in the center console arm rest box. The unit uses a frequency that is not used in the UK and my radio found it with no issues. I can now connect any audio unit (phone / iPod etc) with the supplied stereo cable into the car stereo. The cost was approximately £30.

The unit is completely out of sight and does not use any of the cigar lighter sockets. If there is anything negative to mention its that the volume is less than other radio stations but that is hardly a problem as the sound is clear and not distorted.

That is an interesting and useful mod, I assume there are no adverse effects to your phone usage.

No - there are no impacts to the car phone - all the box is really doing is injecting the audio input directly into the radio aerial. You can still use the radio as normal and by streaming Internet radio using your phone - this effectively becomes a DAB radio input too
