CD Changer - boot version not working

Postby hawa1219 » Sat Jan 02, 2010 10:42 am

I have recently 'swapped' my '99 S Type for an '03 S Type. I have discovered that the boot mounted CD changer does not work. The dashboard display says CDC No disc. I have loaded 1 or 6 cd's the correct way and tried various things to try and get the 'head unit' to see the CD's but to no avail. I called a local Jag specialist and he said he would probably have to replace the unit at a cost of £300. I have also logged on to www.breakeryard..... but without response. Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks Keith Haward (Amersham)

Try Eurojag for parts Keith. I`ve found them very helpfull in the past. Make sure you give them the VIN number of your car in order to get the correct part. Might be worth getting the part number from your player which will also help.

I think I would see if you player is repairable. A trip to a good auto electrician might be an idea. Might save buying a replacement player unnecessarily.

Mike thanks for that. I will try those options.

My wife's MGF had a similar problem not recognising CDchanger,I took the head unit to a specialist to test and he said it was fine but suggested when head disconnected plug in CD changer first before reconnecting power to the head unit,it worked fine after that-may be worth a try
