XJS V12 heart surgery...............

well , it feels like it , lol
first of all , i have a Mirelli ignition car, we all know the pitfalls of this system , but as ever , i want to stay true to the car,
so to that end i spent a long time gathering together all the original Jaguar Mirelli parts , as in a brand new ditributor cap , rotor arm , gasket , 12 new Jaguar plugs , and a full set of 14 , yes 14 Jaguar marelli HT leads , all colour coded and numbered for knuckle heads like me to install.......
a new vacuum pipe and filter for the distributor breather was also fitted , the two coils seem fine for the time being ( death knell tolls )
it took me two consecutive nights the other week to remove all the old baked hard stuff from the valley , and install the new parts , to my surprise , the distributor cap was in great condition , and was a genuine Marelli unit , along with the rotor arm , though no gasket was fitted, the leads were also genuine Jag , but were at least twelve years old and hard to the touch , though there were no lightening storms in the engine bay , the plugs seemed fine but i did break one,
to carry out this task i removed the AC compressor and the cruise control system and the throttle captsan ,
i then went to a two day local car show where the sun shined and all was well ,
this past weekend, i was messing around in the engine bay , and after i had finished running the car , i noticed a weep of petrol from the fuel injector hose front left , i touched the hose and the petrol p*ssed out , oops i thought , and this was a surprise as i had rebuilt the whole system some years back , it obviously doesnt like being left not running ,
the one thing i hadnt done was install new filters and caps to the injectors, these are now readily available online for reasonable cost, so i ordered up a set
tonight i removed the fuel rail and all injectors ready to build up when the new bits arrive tomorrow
wish me luck , and if you see a large mushroom cloud on the horizon , you will know it ran out..........
