A List of Paint Colour Codes

In the October 2006 JEC Magazine page 97 there is a call to register your XJS with the precise body colour ("We still have a large number of vehicle entries where we don't have the precise colour").

Being a new owner of an XJS I was unsure as to which specific colour my "red" XJS was.

I don't know if the following information has been previously published (but I couldn't find it), but,
Thanks to the very helpful Parts department at Holland Brothers (Main Jaguar Dealers) in Lincoln, here is a list of XJS Paint Codes (found on your vehicle plate - which I think is usually on the passenger side A-post).

AFV – Satin Beige (Metallic)
CDP – Dorchester Grey (Metallic)
CEH – Genadier Red
CEK – Bordeaux Red (Metallic)
CEV – Crimson (Metallic)
GDF – Sovereign Gold (Metallic)
HEN – Racing Green
HES – Alpine Green (Metallic)
HET – Moorland Green (Metallic)
HEV – Jade Green (Metallic)
JEX – Tungsten (Metallic)
JFE – Arctic Blue (Metallic)
JFG – Westminster Blue
JFJ – Solent Blue (Metallic)
JFN – Diamond Blue (Metallic)
LEH – Gunmetal (Metallic)
LEK – Savoy Grey (Metallic)
MDF – Talisman Silver (Metallic)
MDJ – Silver Birch (Metallic)
NDJ – Nimbus White
PDH – Black
TDD – Regency Red (Metallic)

The above is NOT comprehensive, so please feel free to add to (or dispute) the above.

The-port-man - Tks for your post. Your helpful dealer has given you a partial list of the colour codes covering a period predominantly pre-1991. As a matter of interest, did you ask only for the colours for a certain year?

Following my usual request for accurate info when entering a car in the database, we've noticed an improvement in the quality of new entries. However, many of the original entries still have very basic colour information enetered. Unfortunately there are still hundreds of cars entered as just "Red" or "Blue" etc. Therefore, I think that I'll do an article on colour codes in the magazine soon, as there are a very large number of paint and trim codes. I will break the colours down by time period in order to help people find the right colour for their car. In addition, the location of the sticker identifying the paint and trim code varies over the lifetime of the cars.

In the meantime, if anyone needs any help identifying the precise colour or trim code for their vehicle, please get in contact with me.

Hi Paul,

A magazine article or a post on the forum would be really great.

As a newbie I could only identify my "red" 1988 HE as NOT Signal Red (but whether it was Grenadier, or Bordeaux, or Crimson, or whatever was simply beyond me).

I happened to be at my dealer getting some touch-up paint, HGG for interest, for my modern S-Type (some kind person has key'd the wing !), and whilst I was there I asked if they could tell me what CEV was. The parts guy was very helpful so I thought I would push my luck and ask if he could tell me what the other paint codes were as I thought they might be helpful to other enthusiasts.

Regards

I've had Halfords make up aerosol paint before, but they can't help me anymore.
For anyone not familiar with the process, their computer gives a 'menu' of diferent colours and amounts which, when mixed will match the paint code. Glacier white, is made up of four dyes but as one of them is, I think, Yellow Chromate, or something, they can't stock it anymore as its lead based or contains some sort of banned substance.

Damn, How can I get a matching paint now? Anyone here have any contacts, it doesn't have to be in aerosol form.

i can get any colour paint mixed in small quantaties, or even enough to repaint a car , i can get it in tin for or in a spray can ,
i cant however say the price will be constant, as its a ' spare time ' opperation to mix it , lol
