i have some original HE badges for the back ( XJS & HE )

i have some facelift stick on badges for the back ( Jaguar & XJS )

and i have some ' V12 ' chrome on black stick on metal badges

and i have the no badges option ( if you see what i mean ) ?

i also have a nice new nose growler ( all black ) on the bonnet , but i also have a brand new Jaguar ' Silverstone ' stick on nose badge that is the same size as the growler , its a chrome ring , round grey edging, with red Jaguar Silverstone lettering around a chrome growler.......

Probably would not bother given that you have the TWR kit on...

Facelift? No, I would not recommend facelift badges on a pre-facelift

Yes - this could work well...

I am going to replace my pre-facelift XJ-S badly scuffed boot badge with a new shiny one which also has the plastic legs on the back. I've never tried removing one with the legs on before, is there any particular knack to removing the old one without breaking the legs?

I assume from looking at the new one that the legs are just to help with locating the badge in the right place and don't themselves help secure the badge to the car?

Still need to find a replacement V12 badge for the other side.

BB - I think your car would have had a "V12" badge on the back originally? Shame not to let those eating your dust know that they're deficient in cylinders compared to you!,

I think I would always go for the V12 badge over the H.E. as a personal preference as well. I think the original badges look good with the TWR bodykit together with a TWR Jaguarsport badge.

Plus twin tailpipes looks good with the bodykit, you can just bolt on the XJR-S twin finishers to a standard XJ-S back box to achieve the look, no one can see the difference to the TWR twin integral exhaust under the back bodykit. Nothing says eat my dust better than 4 tailpipes.

Have just got myself some replica TWR windscreen badges so I can replace my tatty original back one and add one to the front a la TWR 42 style. Pretty good copies although have spotted one minor error that will require a bit of scalpel work to look as original.

i have been thinking about this quite a lot, and during the many years of restoration i have amassed a large amount of different new badges, and recently acquired a genuine metal XJR-s badge , which cost me wayyyyyyy tooooo much money , lol

so

no other badges apart from the chrome on black metal XJR-s one on the back , as i have a new plinth legend and a new growler on the bonnet ,


last night i put on brand new number plates ,

i have a genuine ( not repro ) TWR windscreen sticker that is unused if anyone is interested.......

and no tailpipe adapter trims here, they are the real deal twin XJRS back box's on a full stainless exhaust system......

Interesting. The 2 or 3 XJR-S 6l cars I've looked under all had bolt on Y twin finishers like the picture below (which was removed from a 6l car). The SPC 1068 and 1069 parts were described as "finishers" rather than a complete back box so I'd made an assumption they were all like that.



I thought it was only the TWR large bore free flow exhaust fitted as part of the engine efficiency kit that had the twin pipes directly into the back box. That's an interesting bit of new info about them being used on the XJR-S.

I think you've got just the right look at the back of the car. I did see an XJR-S badge up for sale on ebay a while ago at what seemed an outrageous price...it wasn't that one was it

I'm keeping my remaining original unused TWR sticker in case I ever need to get replacement copies made and was going to do so until I came across someone selling very accurate reproductions. The original stickers don't last forever.

I mean a decent size bore on the intake trumpets, like the Jaguarsport large bore ones for the XJR-S. Plus the ducted cold air radiator top piece is a good addition. But if you've gone as far as getting an original exhaust, good bet you have got those too.

That's interesting; so the XJR-S benefited from intake trumpets? I did not know that... Appreciate that they have the shorter fatter air intake boxes.

I have an auxiliary cold air intake as well as the shorter, fatter air boxes + the widened throttle bodies, revised ECU, TT Extractor exhaust etc. Certainly brightens-up the V12

Do the intake trumpets make a noticeable difference?
