Ok the weekend went by and I did'nt get around to it but I've now put together some photo's and area's where the rust preserver will need to be srayed to keep your XJS from rotting in front of you!!!!!

Starting at the front


Front subframe
As we all know this can rot out from the inside without you knowing it.
I drilled two holes into the towers to ensure I could get waxoyl everywhere. There are holes underneath to get to the bulk of the structure

Also the radiator crossmember can dissapear on you without knowing it. there are plenty of access area's around to get into the lower inner wing structure

Looking inside the engine bay down both inner wings there are about 5 grommets either side which give access to the upper inner wings and don't forget the shock tower

Working outside the engine bay the inner wings can be accessed under the outerwings. remove all stone guards to gain access. This picture shows how corrosion takes place where you can't see it. Bottom of outer wings can be covered from here as well

Working in front of the windscreen ensure each void either side of the wiper motor bay is sprayed. can be accessed from the wiper motor bay

My bonnet was not too good either and treating this part is often forgotten.There are plenty of access holes intp the panelling and also don't forget the fwd voids where the grill sits

Working back the doors can always do with a good dose of treatment and try and get it behind the safety beam which runs the full length.

Inside the car the are plenty of access points so you can treat front and rear jacking point, radius arm area's.rear seat voids and between inner and outer sills

Working into the boot the whole area could be treated up into the butresses, petrol tank area (obviously my tank is removed so access was easy), rear wheel arches, lower quarter panels even get in around the rear light panels!!.

Nearing the end

The bootlid could do with treating the same way as the bonnet and on the rear suspension I treated the radius arm internals and the top inside of the cradle

obviously this was all relatively painless for me as I had cut out all the tin worm and had no interior/boot interior in my way. To strip the car down to this level and spray and rebuild is probably a v long weekends work if you use the car daily.

I expect other members will also state area's I've forgotten but it is 0030 in the morning. Hope this helps fellow XJS owners
