water coming in through dashboard?

Postby Occulomency » Thu Mar 05, 2009 12:53 pm

Hi,

I'm a Jag newbie, well actually worse, I am looking to buy my first XJS in the next few days.

I have found one, 1995 facelift 6.0l coupe, but the windscreen seals are shot. Water leaking in and dripping from under the dash.

Moreover, the worry is the small bubble of corrosion on the front scuttle. I have been doing much research and many phone calls have been made. This looks like potentially a very expensive fix, does anyone have experience or an opinion as to the best people to go to in order to get this done properly?

Many thanks.

F.

Sorry DH, I bought the 6 litre.

I'll report back as to my adventures with repairing the leak/corrosion.

Should be fun.

Hopefully.

No worries, CONGRATULATIONS and welcome to the fabulous, frustrating and sometimes expensive world of XJS ownership.

I'm sure you'll love your car as we do ours and perhaps sometimes hate it too. In any event you will always find someone on the Forum with a helpful tip or word of advice or encouragement if things start to look bleak.

Keep us posted as to how you get on and if you need any help don't hesitate to ask - there is a wealth of experience here. :D

I've seen a lot of this type of work being done at Clarkes Jaguar. They did a really nice job on a red car that I saw there before xmas. They do take a while, but then again it could be worth it.
My car is there now, having quite a bit done. I can let you know how it goes.
