central locking on boot + retrofit

Postby jimonskye » Sun Dec 14, 2008 3:06 pm

hi, this is my first post as a new member. I have a 86 twr 3.6, I have had an aftermarket alarm/central locking/keyfob kit fitted. However as the original central locking did not include the boot, this obviously does not lock/unlock the boot. Can anyone advise me how easy/difficult/impossible it would be to retro fit a later solenoid operated lock to allow the boot to be included in the central locking.
thanks in advance for any advice

central locking on boot + retrofit

Postby Brakebuster » Sun Dec 14, 2008 3:37 pm

hi and welcome

well, the lock etc will fit, but the wiring would be the main issue , as i doubt there will be anything there to utilise ,

i would suggest scrutinising the wiring diagrams for the different years,

mine is an 89 coupe, and does have the central locking boot
