Hello again Sasha,
You will find some useful info in old posts on this topic in this section I think. :D
My own solution was to go to a local trimmer, he took the whole lot out, stripped it and re-trimmed it in a colour of my choice and re-fitted it. Super job. Cost was around £200.00.
Generally speaking DiY repairs with spray-glue etc. don't work due to the nature of the headlinings construction. (It tends to self-destruct structually as the years go by).
As ever......you pays your money and takes your chances.........
Best Wishes

PS What's the story on this new XJS Club??? Is it tied in to the JEC? or is it a local thing? :?

I replaced my own headling, you need to remove the front seats to make it easier, then carefully prise off side mouldings. undo light units, take care not to damage the base assy which is pressed fibreglass material. I purchased the materials at an autojumble regards Kels

Fair play to you, how much did it cost?
NB You shouldn't need to remove the front seats if you recline them to the recommended place.

I believe the most expensive item was the adhesive which was approx thirty pounds, I cant recall the cost of the headlining material probably about the same. I have some headlining material left over enough to do another car. if anyone is interested it is the grey shade jaguar used. regards Kels.

Hi as I posted earlier, I changed the headlining myself. I removed the seats to do it but have been told since that sliding them back is sufficient. The biscuit must be carefully removed as it is made of a fibreglas material which appears to have been pressed to shape. Bits will fall off if you are hamfisted. If damaged use a fibreglass kit to repair. Be careful of the adhesive you use it needs to be suitable take advice from a trimming supplier. regards Kels

First, welcome to the Forum. :D

??? See my above post, further details in previous posts on this subject.

I used a trimmer in Bath but would have to search to find the name/location, and it was about five years ago so factor in some inflation.

Why would you want to take the windows out?????

With windscreen out you stand a better chance of getting the headlining out without breaking the backing board. More applicable to the saloons, really, and quite a chore if you have bonded screens.

Dear All

"Windows" isn't "Windscreen"

Anyway, with seats correctly positioned you shouldn't have to take the windscreen out either...........

Go to a reputable trimmer :D

You should be able to get the headlining out through the passenger door. If the "biscuit" crumbles a bit around the edges dont get too concerned as the new trim material will cover any nasties. I used a fibre glass resin to bons round the edges before refitting for structrural strength. I sourced the headlining from Woolies who are on line and have a great choice of materials. Don't skimp on adhesive. Get a good spray one.

All in all mine cost about £100 in materials to do.

While I was at it I replaced the interior lamp too - the one above the rear view mirror. I got a low profile one from eBay (from a mondeo) which has a central light and two directed map lights. 8) The original fell into bits and was poor to begin with.
