1995 Celebration: onset of rust between roof and chrome window surrounds?

Ah, I see what you mean. If the corrosion hasn't gone to the outer edge of the scuttle, as mine had, then you just might be able to repair that screen flange and scuttle without removing the wing. If it's of any help, the wing removal and refit is really quite easy compared to the rest of the job. That was the least of my challenges!

I think one of the prime problems is that after 20 years, the screen mastic sealant shrinks and allows water to creep around and sit on the flange where it then corrodes. And of course, on Coupes, that channel behind the chrome is just waiting to block up and exacerbate the problem. Even where my flange wasn't corroded, I could see daylight around the screen mastic edge in places so a problem was always going to happen.

When you get the screen removed, see if you can get the fitter to carefully preserve the mastic dam as they are not available AFAIK.

Hi Paul, With the dam, do you mean the filler strip at the edge of the point where the lower edge screen stainless trim meets the scuttle? If you do I found a supplier in the USA who supplies a rubber trim that looks the same on the visible edge, however, it has extra ridges that block the path of the water that could blow in. On the diagram it shows only up to before my VIN number, so do I assume after that they did not fit it I wonder? I have just also had a look at the A post finishers and they have nothing on them, and neither was there anything on the top edge of the screen. How I wish I could find a parts manual or a microfiche for this year car (I have a microfiche reader, so would be great) so maybe never fitted on the later models?

If you look, you will see that there is one part number for your VIN range and one prior to yours.

The Jaguar parts website has every part number and diagram for our cars. It's a great source which should always be your first port of call for buying parts even if you don't buy from Jaguar but just want to get the right part number.

OOOPS, missed that, thank you. Nothing like having a printed parts manual, you can always write notes as well, perhaps I am just getting old? Well one thing is for sure, I have nothing there on mine. Do I presume it is to stop water being pushed along the top rail of the screen? If that is the case I am sure this could be achieved with some mastic suitably placed?
