Seat Conversion

Postby omar » Sat Sep 23, 2006 5:49 pm

I am watching this one eagerly. I too have a pre-facelift model which despeartely needs rear seats. I also have a coupe with rear seats poised to donate its wares - will these fit? As a last resort, I also have a facelift 4 seater convertible that could donate its rear seats, but that is my absolute last resort. Any guidance from anyone out there please?

I dont know about a convertable, but i put the rear seats from a coupe into my cabriolet with little problem, most bits fitted ok, just the rear side panels needed a bit of altering, but nothing much. I did however fing that the front seat runners were narrower, and the mounts needed moving.

seats in the back of a Covertible

Postby omar » Tue Nov 14, 2006 5:35 pm

I know from reading other member comments that the cabriolet lends itself to the rear seat conversion, but the convertible is a different kettle of fish. It cannot be that much of a problem; if Jaguar managed to do it maybe we could too. Has anyone attempted this conversion?

rear seat conversion

reading the adverts of convertibles for sale in the club magazine several claim conversions of pre facelift models although in the xjs book it says not practicable so who is right can it be done or not??

XJS convertible rear seats

Postby steve1 » Wed Dec 13, 2006 1:51 pm

I had an excellent job done on my '89 V12 working through Classic Spares Ltd (Ray Ingam) 01992 716236

Mine are beige leather with coffee piping to match the driver/passenger seats - looks like a factory job and two years of use they still look like new!

Give me a call if you like 0208 406 4540 Steve
