Was your post ment to cheer me up or frighten me into thinking maybe Before and After are the way to go

I am off to spares day tomorrow and on my list was WAXOYL, now will I cross it off before the morning?

Your post was very informative as always and if I do go down the route of DIY I will take pics for you as I am sure my wife will want to embarras me when all geared up.

Michael,

Sorry, I wasn't trying to put you off at all! If you've got the time and garage space (esp. with your lift) then DIY can be both a very therapeutic and satisying experience and you know it's been done properly. It just can be a very messy job, so also put plastic sheets over other areas in your garage.

I also forgot to mention that you MUST cover up your brakes as it's a nightmare if you get waxoyl on discs and pads. Having said that I think it's quite beneficial to spray it it on spring and shock joints etc.

Personal choice but I don't like waxoyl on my exhaust particularly if you're using black, so you might want to mask it or be sitting ready with rags soaked in white spirit to clear it off.

As regards buying it tomorrow, irrespective of whether you buy Dinitrol or waxoyl there are big, big differences in prices beiing charged. So do a bit of digging around on the internet tonight and work out what price you can get 5 litre and 1 litre containers before you go buying tomorrow.

The smell is horrible and lingers for weeks! I bought one of those little light pens on a stick so you can poke it in the sill and see inside to check that you have good coverage. Pleased to see that mine are lovely and rust free but covered them in the stuff anyway. No problem about holes being blocked as they are very large and as said the liquid is very runny. Did poke them all afterward with a rod to make sure but none was even close to being blocked. have not done inside the doors yet - may be next summer but the galvansing on the later model is fantastic.

I chickened out of doing the full under-body treatment and got it done elsewhere but I now have to finish what they missed.

What is the best method of access to the sills and the long reinforcing tube inside the sill that Paul mentioned? do I need to drill holes in the sill tops and plug after or is there a alternative.

I do have a ramp so access from underneath is easy.

Concerning before-'n'-after..just ask yourself why he (Chris)is not allowed to advertise in our great mag? yes its because of complaints against him. He made a total mess of my 1991 3.6 coupe and you should have seen it,but then again third world conditions do not a workshop make. Just to put you in the picture there was joop everywhere including the interior,he also spent a lot of time doing the wheels and brakes and for some bizare reason the plastic shields and trims.But what he missed is too much to mention,then again I had an added bonus (if you like) of a dented door and sill.My whole experience was a backward step and his legacy is not worth the certificate he gives you at the end,I was so disgusted i took my car to my local Jaguar main dealer and they all said its the worst mess they have ever seen and I have a written report to prove it,also I have pictures and they would make you cry. He got reported by me to the trading standards and reluctantly he paid for only one of the two dents to be repaired,hours of elbow grease were needed to remove the overspray.His work speaks for the man

There is a chap in Lindfield Susssex who uses a combination of Waxoyl and Dinitrol. I've seen some of his work and it looks pretty good. Considering having my 1996 4.0 Celebration done this year.
