LED headlight coding?

Postby garagedood » Sat Dec 30, 2023 5:34 pm

2017 3.0s diesel. I have a ‘ dipped beam fault’ message appearing. My JLR specific icarsoft scanner tells me B1D64 - ‘motor operation, malfunction of left actuator’. I am working my way through the list of anecdotal fixes found on the net and elsewhere but am kind of resigned on having to either repair ( meaning dismantle and repair/replace an internal component) or replace with new or used. If I do have to replace the headlight will it need to be coded to the car? I would have expected it would but one seller claims ‘ plug and play’. Anyone know the truth???

I don’t think headlights need coding, but happy to be corrected…

Sadly, here's the appropriate phrase from the workshop manual for LED headlamp replacement, "Using the Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) approved diagnostic equipment, configure the Headlamp Control Module A (HCM) for left and Headlamp Control Module B (HCMB) for right headlamp replacement." :( Mike.
