F PACE TEST DAY
Moderators:jBlackwell, mike020150
I was lucky to be invited by our local JLR dealer to have an extended test drive of a 2.0D F Pace, putting myself up to be shot at now, I find it hard to say anything good about it, sorry F Pace owners, really sorry, but I found it slow, harsh, noisy, the ride was truly awful around our Scottish roads, and the biggest gripe came for "er indoors", she can't close the tailgate, because she can't reach the self close button, marvellous!!
Re: F PACE TEST DAY
It also confirms my thoughts on SUV's. When I was looking to replace my Volvo estate I looked closely at the alternatives. New V90 is too new to get a decent deal. Jaguar XF Sportbrake doesn't exist (yet?). I don't like the look of the F Pace. I've never been keen on SUV's. I know it's an unfashionable view but I feel they are too compromised. You don't get a decent 4x4 or a comfortable car. We keep a Discovery for when we do need to get ANYWHERE. Living on Salisbury Plain this is a regular need! There's some practicality in that SUV's are roomy but an estate car does that without the performance and consumption penalty.
So, Jaguar having failed me, I am expecting an Audi A6 Avant when the Germans get their finger out and build it! Sorry Jaguar - you had first shout but couldn't rise to the job so I'm afraid that's £40k you've allowed to pass you by!

Ah, but the twenty one year old mothers with three kids will love `em. More Tesco parking rash in the making. To them its cool but they don`t give a stuff about fluid design. Sir William would have despaired!!
No grace, no real space but somehow it is a Pace. Does this car really fit into the Jaguar genre? I think not. Frankly, I`d be embarrassed to turn up in something so bland, dull and uninteresting. My grand-daughter would dis-own me. She expects me to climb out of a long, black XJR. She goes wild every time she sees it. Apparently she hates her Mothers new Merc A160 with a passion and belly-aches that it is not a Jag. Just over three now, already Esme can spot one in a car park and demands to be taken to see it.

Re: F PACE TEST DAY
I changed my daily car in January and I was also disappointed when I had a good look at the Pace. I can't believe that for such a large vehicle the rear space is so small. After looking it over I declined a test drive as it would have been pointless.
An estate or hatch XE may have been ideal for me but that doesn't exist either, the XF is just too long and I didn't want a diesel either.
With nothing in the Jaguar line to suit my particular needs I bought another make instead.

Re: F PACE TEST DAY
Autocar predicts the new XF Sportbrake will arrive in July so not too long for estate car fans to wait. Mike.

I'm conscious that we've been rather negative about the F Pace!
So, F Pace owners tell what we've missed!

Re: F PACE TEST DAY
Are these huge so called SUV's supplied with no drivers seat, as so many drivers seem to be looking through the steering wheel rather than over it ?
Re: F PACE TEST DAY
There's a clear split between what the members on this forum think about the F Pace and what is being posted on the JEC Facebook page. "The F-Pace is now not only Jaguar fasting selling car of all time, it has just won World Car of the Year and World Car Design 2017 too!!"
All cars are a matter of personal taste but Jaguar must feel it is on the right track, producing a model that sells and picks up awards.......like it or not this is probably the future of the mark.

I agree, it's what what the buying public want, not what we as a minority would like that counts, if JLR made cars just for JEC members then sales would be a bit dire to say the least
By way of a "try again", our dealer gave us today, a stunning XJ R Sport, albeit a diesel, but what a car, I fell in LOVE within 5 miles, sadly this one has to go back as well, but I WILL be driving this one back and not leaving it to some one else, but I will admit to looking at used petrol models over lunch today!!
