New Pads Squeaking

Postby MichaelSB » Sun Jun 14, 2009 9:08 pm

I have finally managed to replace my brake pads front and rear with low dust EBC red pads,

(With considerable help and advise from Paul Sinnott, Thank you Paul)

My problem now is the back brakes are squealing and I don't know why or how best to stop it.

Any suggestions please. :?
Michael

you need to put a smear of copper slip grease on the back of them where the pistons touch, and also on the sliding guides

dont forget to put some on the anti-rattle pins/springs where they touch the caliper

this goes for all brake pad installations

Hi BB

I did put cooper slip on the back of the pads and on the two bolts that hold the caliper together, are they the sliding guides you refer too?

I did not put any on the anti rattle springs, could that be the problem or do I need to remove the pads again and add more copper slip?

Thanks :?

Hi, I have heard that one cause of squeaking rear brakes is fatigue of the bronze return springs. Try replacing them. regards Kels.

New Pads Squeaking

Could it be that the new pads haven't yet bedded into the existing discs? Kirby's book has some interesting views on how to bed in new pads, might be worth a try.
