That’s frightening!

It reminds me of the time I once went on holiday and left my car at a hotel that has one of those off site car parking facilities.
When I got back from my holidays I noticed the handbrake wasn't working properly and there was ‘yards’ of travel.
I took my car around to a friend’s house as soon as I could who jacked up my car and crawled underneath. He shouted "you got no linings left on your handbrake pads!"

We believe someone has been driving the car with the handbrake on and the only other person to drive my car so recently was the hotel.
I went through the usual of writing a letter of complaint, but no joy.
I paid for a new set of pads and it was fine after then.

I know some people can’t seem to use the XJ-S handbrake (I’ve seen others) but you think they would have noticed the warning light on the dash!

Were the handbrakes that efficient on those earlier cars to do that?
