Dear All

Went to pick up the car this morning following boot lock repair/autumn service. Paid the bill and went to drive away and the anti lock warning light is on. Took it for a quick run and sure enough the ABS is U/S.

I've had to leave the car with them

Does anyone have any suggestions as to what could be easilly disturbed to cause this fault?
I don't think the ABS system has chosen this week to pack up by a coincidence. At least I certainly hope not, I believe they can be expensive to repair :(

UPDATE
Phone just rang, dirt in the front offside sensor causing fault - wheel etc. had been off, car is ready for collection in the morning...YIPPEE :P

PS I've had an XJ8 3.2 Sport (X350?) to drive around in as a loan car for a few days, I have to say I quite liked it, comfy but firm ride , five speed auto and went very well.....BUT is it me or are these cars nicer from the outside than the inside? - The interior didn't really impress me apart from it was functional. :? (Apologies BB)

no need to apologise m8,
if we all liked the same thing there would be too many Jags on the road, lol

btw, mine is an X308 1997-2002 , X350 are from 2002 to present and are totally different to the X308.
for a start they are aluminium cars with a completely different interior

this is my X308 interior

Hi
Sorry, not too hot on saloon car series numbers, this was an S-reg - 98? which would make it a 308, same as yours. The interior looks the same as your piccy. This ones got "smoked" (?) wood, not to my taste.
Do your instrument lights stay on all the time? If so, is this because they are recessed so far in the binnacle? A couple of bulbs are out on my loaner so the fuel gauge and temp gauge are unreadable most of the time...... :(

I think the real differrence is the ambience of the interior...........having driven an XJS for so long it is so .......intimate(?), inside that this car was like getting inside a van........well, saloon car!!!

Overall I rated it highly and it WAS a nice drive, your car has the 4.0 engine? so should go VERY well indeed, as this 3.2 is no slouch.

One other thing, I get the impression that it's a bit like fly by wire (ie not directly connected) between the throttle and the gearbox/performance, tho' after a couple of days I am starting to get used to it and in a week or so probably wouldn't notice it.

NB haven't discussed NEC with Libby yet tho' the thought of going the day after a full-on night out with thirty or so ex-RAF fighter jocks does seem a bit iffy.......come back to you on that one.

Best Wishes
