Brakes made of toffee?

I have a 2021 (April) XE R Dynamic P250 S. it has covered only 8100 miles from new. Last week, I had a warning on the dash saying brake pads worn. Today I called at Prestige Jaguar in Paisley (a round trip of five hours) and was quite shocked when told that both back and front pads were worn and needed renewed. The wear indicators had been activated back and front.
Am I alone in thinking this is ludicrous? New pads after 8000 miles? I’m not exactly last of the late breakers, in fact with lots of single track roads around where we are, driving tends to be slow and careful. I thought Jaguar were quality cars, but seems not if this is the standard of their break parts!
In addition, when renewing the back o/s pads, the technician pointed out that the shocker was leaking! WHAT! Pads and a rear shock after 8100 miles?
I doubt the main dealers will cover the brakes, but they better replace the shock under warranty. Watch this space.

That's quite bizarre. My 3 litre XE S still has its original pads in place after 37K miles. I have noticed that the brake pad part numbers have changed during the model's production run so it's possible the pads have changed specification to produce more pedal feel/lower pressures but 8K miles per set sounds ridiculous.
