Air conditioning refrigerants - The facts, not the myths.

So, what was all the fuss about??, Plenty!!Most awkward job to date I've done on the car. The hardest bit is the union nut connecting the valve to the evaporator, b#ugger all room to work in.
Need to remove the low pressure pipe/hose to get a bit more access.
Remove the pipe coming out of the top of the valve, disconnect the capillary tube from the low pressure side. Then there is just enough room to get a 7/8" flare nut spanner in. The one I used was a flat sided type, a "point" type would have been better, and needs a good crank on the spanner.
Once the spanner was fitted over the nut, then I turned the valve and it came loose. Need to be very careful not to move the pipe going to the evap.
All in all, took 3 hours

A friend retired from the commercial A/C industry last year and has offered me his old kit including recovery unit, gauges and vac pump etc. Unfortunately his tickets have run out and he didn't keep any gas.

I'm now selling on the equipment. If anyone wants to start their own A/C business here is your chance to get a reclaim unit!

Hi all
And now the latest is RS-24 as a direct replacement for R12.

It costs slightly more than 134a but that's because it's as good as R12.
This can also be used instead of 134a in those cars that use it.

After a good hunt around this is the one being used now.

Google for this and the various Aircon garages come up.

UK specific but other markets are probable the same/
