I will be replacing my Volvo V70 early next year and an XE Sportbrake would be a strong candidate! I've seen a few unofficial mock ups on the net but nothing from Jaguar themselves.
Is there a Sportbrake on the horizon?

An XE estate was something I would also have been very interested in at some point in the future. It looks loke my money will be heading to another manufacturer

I saw that report of an interview with Ian Callum in Automotive News too. Was he just drawing a false scent across the trail perhaps? It seems somewhat at odds with a prediction two weeks ago in Auto express that the launch date for the XE Sportbrake will be December this year! Callum also went on to infer that the F-Pace would stand alone and not be supported by smaller or larger versions of the SUV. Another porky? Mike.

How many Sportbrake XFs do you see on our M ways - not many. The SUV has relegated them to a minority purchase - I'd be surprised if we see any further estate vehicles ...

Has anyone told the Germans that the estate car is dead? They appear to be merrily carrying on selling their avants, tourings etc in volume!

I beg to ask the question, as thus : if the salesman says to me that the XF is simply comprised of the front end of an XE , but with a larger rear end to allow sensible accommodation behind the front two seats, then why do people not realise that the XF sport brake is the front end of an XE with an estate rear . Does that not translate to anyone that it is effectively an XE estate > Or, put it another way, how could JLR waste money any other way than to produce a model that did things worse than the XF estate, and cost very nearly the same. The price point differences between XE and XF are small enough as it is ?

Hi - this is an old thread from May last year. Things have moved on since then and obviously Jaguar have launched an XF Sportbrake into the premium estate market.
I would have been very interested in this to replace my Volvo V70 but they denied they were going to make one in the press and even when I rang Jaguar Customer Services earlier this year to ask!
They then announced the XF Sportbrake in the spring but unfortunately a few weeks after I had ordered an Audi A6 Avant!
Oh well
(But actually the Audi is suiting me very well so far)

I had the pleasure of driving an A6 avant last year. Apart from a two hour wait on the M5 near Taunton (lots of blue lights and ambulances dashing about), the journey was smooth and refreshing with the input from the car. Incidentally, I put my theory to my friendly but professional XE salesman, and he retorted ''Oh yes there will be an XE Estate in due course....and why ?...because they can..!'' Hope that might be of any help in the future.

I was in a similar situation to David last year. I would have seriously considered an XE estate if one had been available. The XF only had a diesel which was no good for me and it is also rather too large. I also bought from another manufacturer so another Jaguar sale lost.

It was suggested that the the F-Pace would be suitable but I've rarely seen such a lardy vehicle with such a small and high boot area. Plenty of estates from other makes that sell well, Jaguar really lost the plot there in my opinion.

Interesting about the popularity of the would be XE Estate. Land Rover seem to produce their models quite quickly these days, Jaguar perhaps a bit slower, though I'd assume it is a question of shape and packaging being more crucial for Jaguar to develop. The weight of the old XF sport brake was like dragging/swinging an anchor round bends. This can be mitigated by having 4wd currently. My 2wd R-Sport 2.5T (247 bhp) I throw in my slalom race skis through the cubby hole in the back seat, along with training rucksack and suitcase, to drive to Landgraaf indoor ski training slope in Holland, and the handling stays pure sports saloon, no weight impediment, with no spare, and without two very heavy mechanised front seats.
