Return to Jaguar

I returned to Jaguar last week with a 2017 Jaguar XE 2.0d R Sport. Came out of a 2007 Lexus LS460, remarkable car but was happy to return to Jaguar for the fourth time. Previous Jaguars were 2009 X Type, 2007 XK and 2008 XJ. The technology in the XE has really impressed me including the Jaguar Connect App which has had some poor reviews but I have found all aspects of the App work fine. I like the fact the GPS does away with the need to consider a tracker to locate the car. Very frugal and cheap road tax at £120 compared to £550 for the Lexus.
Looking forward to using the forum again.

Welcome back! The XE is a great car and an excellent Jaguar. Somehow, for whatever reason, I don't think enough people get behind the wheel and try one. Anyone with driving spirit couldn't help but enjoy the model.

Mike.

Thanks for the welcome MIke. Yes I agree the xe is a car that people who are unsure need to drive it. Not sure if it's a factor but as a AWD car it reminds me of a go cart round bends but i might be imagining the AWD system is kicking in or whether the car handles the same a a rear wheel drive car.

Both RWD and AWD versions handle beautifully but the AWD models have the advantage of putting their power down better in the wet. I just find it slightly frustrating that the most powerful cars (V6 petrols) only come with RWD. It somewhat goes against simple logic, especially as the same AWD driveline package is offered in the F-Type. Mike.

Sounds like you've made an impressive choice. How's the new one these days?

I really enjoy the XE S. It's not a Jaguar in the classic XJ sense. It's much more of a modern Mk 2 equivalent so some understandable compromises on rear seat and boot space. Otherwise, I can thoroughly recommend it as an enjoyable way to endure UK motoring - with its shared mechanicals, a practical four door and quieter version of the F-Type perhaps?
