Can the keyless entry be disabled?

I would like to disable the keyless entry on my 2016 XE (where you unlock the car just by opening the door handle when you have the key fob in your pocket) in so that I do not have to protect the key fob from being targeted by thieves who monitor the transmission from the keyfob. I have tried the sequence suggested for JLR vehicles (KF in car, press headlamp button on KF three times, press KP unlock button, take KF outside car, close door, press lock button) but this did not work.

Why should you suffer because some nerdowell wants your car, just purchase a Faraday pouch and put your keys in it when at home.

I keep the keys in a tin overnight but I am disappointed that the feature cannot be disabled on the XE. With all this technology (which obviously works much better for thieves than us owners) we should be able to do it?

Curiously, in the part of suburban London where we live (Wordford Green), we often hear of the following going missing - Lexus, Land Rover, BMW, Fiat 500, - but not once in recent memory of a Jaguar? It could be that there are fewer Jaguars around in our area than the others? But not one!

I don’t have such a new fangled Jaguar (mines 17 years old) but a quick google search came up with this. Worth testing.


1. Open the driver's door
2. Hold the key fob inside the car
3. Press the headlamp button on the key fob three times
4. Press the unlock button on the key fob once
5. Take the key fob outside of the car
6. Close the driver's door
7. Press the lock button the key fob

I found that you have to be quick with the key fob buttons. If you are slightly slow with the 3 presses etc it doesn't work.
