My 2017 XE 2000 diesel is in need of a new battery. The current battery is the original one so it has done very well. I would like to buy the best one I can. I intend to keep this car for a while longer and so within reason I am not concerned about the cost. I can fit the battery myself, I have an icarsoft code reader so car make sure the new battery is fitted correctly without losing anything.
What does anyone recommend? I have been looking at Yuasa and Bosch, although I"m not sure about which model (is that the correct word) I should get.
Any advice would be appreciated.

Both the Yuasa and Bosch are good batteries and you will not go wrong with a purchase of either from a reputable Auto Electrical Factor.
Prime fact about the replacement battery is to ensure it is of the correct external dimensions, so access your current battery and make sure you get the length, breadth and depth measured correctly - nothing worse than having the battery too big to fit into the battery compartment.
Next to consider is whether your car is fitted with Auto Start / Stop, which it probably is, meaning you will need a battery that is AGM (Absorbent Glass Mat), which operates slightly differently to a standard lead acid battery.
Now the critical element is to purchase one with the correct power rating and for that, check the label on your existing battery - it should be on the top between the terminals. Without knowing your exact car, I would estimate it should be at least a 95AH 850CCA AGM.
Alternatively, you simply go to a parts website, such as EuroCarParts, see link below, and type in your registration number or car details and it will tell you exactly what you need, offering a range of manufacturers and price points. Be prepared for a shock when you see the prices of the Bosch versions though.
