well,

time to bite the bullet....

the MOT is tomorrow, and i needed to get the car out of the garage and give it a test drive

with quite a lot of trepidation i started the car in the garage, engaged drive and let my foot off the brake pedal , warmup idle revs instantly picked up the gearbox and i gently moved forward , this i had done before , but only a meter each way , lol

with the drive cleared of all other vehicles i slowly drove the car about 30mtrs down the drive and stopped , all good so far, engaged reverse and there was a gently lunge ( very gentle ) and tried going backwards, almost siletly she went backwards with very little effort

the time had come to prove her

so with phone in pocket i decided to take her onto the road for an up to speed test, pulling off the drive was really smooth , and the engine picked up very nicely , there were no nasty noises at all, in fact i was almost concerned about the lack of noise, lol

onto the bypass and up to speed, the gear changes were longer than i expected but the revs didn't concern me , something i might just have to get used to , though this is adjustable in a few ways,

and back to my drive , all in all a good test drive and i will be happy to take her for the MOT tomorrow

wish me luck

all being well, she will be at the next breakfast meetup at kemble

btw, the new exhaust sounds Bellissimo :!: :!:

Very nice result, Vince. You must be super pleased. Quite a piece of machinery to have had in pieces so the first few gear changes must have been quite a nerve tingling time.

BB,

Well done, I'm sure that first up-change was a nerve-wracking experience!

Great to see you on Saturday. I'm just doing final measurements before deciding to commit on the CJ Autos 2-post lift. It might just fit! Fingers crossed!

My x-350 also had its MoT this morning. Sailed through again with zero emissions. And even persuaded the tester not to give me any advisories for "engine covers".

Good luck with yours.

Paul

so ,

Taxed ( from tomorrow ) MOT'd and insured ( finally through Footman James from the magazine )

as you can gather the MOT was a resounding Pass 8) with zero advisories, in fact the tester spent more time chatting with me and taking pictures than doing actual MOT things, lol , same chap for the last three tests to.....

the gearbox performed seamlessly , in fact i can begin to imagine how this car could have driven when it was new, as i haven't experienced that to date with the old gearbox ,

so , all ready for the new show season and monthly breakfast meetings along with a few sunny day excursions

and she will now live outside , so i have to go cover her up for the impending rain storm on its way later today

BB,

Great news! Well done! Has made me think that I'll at least do a fluid change on my 'box this summer.

Tighten the cover down on the car. The front of my cover has blown off 3 times this morning already!

Cheers

Paul
