does anyone know how to identify an original factory manual car ie by chassis number or any other means i may purchase one in the near future but i believe ther are some autos that have been converted over the years did jaguar add a letter or number to the vin to identify the car?

we need to know of year of car as there are two vin methods of vin numbering which changed approx. May 1978 from memory, but which ever is used there is an identifier for a RHD manual car

searching some more, experts please correct me if I am wrong

early cars Sept 1975 to May 78 will be 2W**** with a BW suffix if an auto, nothing if a manual

May 78 to 1981 the 6th vin character indentifier will a 1 for a RHD manual and a 2 for a LHD manual

only 352 cars built, so rare beasts
