hi, my 3.6, 85, manual, twr has a weird problem that even my local specialist garage can not fix. One day she starts and runs perfectly. The next day she floods as soon as you turn the key and will not start, even when you dry the plugs etc. We have replaced just about every part/sensor in the engine and even fitted a new ECU and battery, but nothing seems to work. Any ideas would be grabbed at like a steak by a starving dog.
many thanks

What did/does the fuel pressure leak down test come up with?

hi, the fuel, vacuum, tests all come out ok. the specialists have replaced every part from a running engine and nothing makes any diference. their theory is that I have a wiring problem which causes the intermittant fault. will be handing her over to a specialist electrical company to have the entire wiring system mapped. will update if I ever get her fixed

Does anyone think that a intermitant AAV could cause this?
My car did not flood exactly, but had a fault which made it run very badly and extremely richly.
It was in part due to the AAV, I guess maybe not in this case but if you happened to have a spare one kicking around might be worth a swap.
Or if you know someone with a 3.6, perhaps they might let you try theirs temporarily.

thanks, but we tried a working aav, the problem remained. I can only hope that the electric specialist finds the fault. The jag specialist says that he has never seen this problem before and is stumped. Soon,I will try making sacrifices to the aztec jaguar god.

?hi, the fuel, vacuum, tests all come out ok.

So, how long did it sustain fuel pressure for after switch off?

the specialists have replaced every part from a running engine

That include the fuel injectors?

Would a blockage in the fuel return line cause flooding? if the fuel could not return and was trapped in the system?
I'm am merely asking by the way, to others of greater knowledge as this is just a idea that sprung into my melon! :o
