Hi
The RPM gauge on my car stopped working the other day whilst I was out driving. Maybe as expected - but stopping the car, turning off the ignition and turning it back on did not fix the issue.
The next day the RPM gauge did work. The next day it stopped working during a drive again.
I haven’t delved into the Repair Operations Manual yet - but are there any obvious things that I should start with checking when trying to solve this intermittent fault.
The RPM garage does sometimes “bounce around” for a couple of seconds if there is a sudden big change of revs - e.g. changing from 2nd to 3rd using the gear selector. I mention this because whilst I thought that it was perfectly normal - though I don’t remember seeing it on “lesser” cars of that era that I was in - it might provide as clue as to what is going on now.
Thanks in advance for any help or advice
Peter

Re: Intermittent RPM Gauge
I've heard of similar gauge problems due to the instrument cluster flexible circuit board having bad tracks or poor earths.
