The engine is stalling from cold, when warmed up it does'nt stall.

Any ideas what the problem might be?

My 1994 AJ6 engined car had a similar intermittent problem usually soon after starting up when lifted off for a roundabout . When did you last change your fuel filter? On my car this lurks in the space behind the nearside front wheel - a ridiculous location as it is often overlooked as a service item. Would suggest you try a new one if it has not been changed recently. Apparently the stalling is due to restricted fuel flow when the engine is still on choke. Pl. report how you get on.

Re: 1995 XJS stalling.

There also 2 filters in the boot compartment one down under the battery. It is in the well of the fuel tank where the fuel pump draws from. It is shown in the maintenance manual and you will have to drain the tank. So it might be better to do this one with the tank almost on empty. The second one is behind the spare wheel in the boot. This is easily accessed, but do be careful in both cases about fuel spillage while working.
