Hi to all fellow owners

Hi there,

I'd just like to introduce myself as a newbie to JEC having let another group subscription expire (JDC) in favour of sampling a fresh one!
I'm Mark Daniels (AKA Dan), live in the West Midlands, and have a V6S Coupe (F17TPE), which I've owned now for just coming up on 2 years in July.
2 and a half years ago, whilst commuting to a project in the Wimbledon area, I was fortunate enough to get stuck in traffic on the M40 and was sat alongside a V6S drop top with the roof down on a glorious morning heading toward the city, and as it pulled away at a reasonable chat (having left a suitably large gap to the traffic ahead) the sound and exhilaration I felt from the drivers seat in my van overwhelmed me!
Over the next few months I scoured the press and message boards until I finally pinned down my F17TPE at a specialist dealer in Fareham. (dealer advert picture below)
At July 2022.jpg
Test drive completed, the deal was done to PX my van for the more curvy lines of an F Type.
I must stress this is my daily driver, and I cover lots of miles with my work, so in 2 years I've nudged on 40k in this car, (I know this will distress some readers, but I believe these things need driving to keep them in their best health) and every one of them has been with a smile and a level of enjoyment I never imagined possible when sitting in that traffic jam in my van!
The compliments that come from other drivers wherever the car goes is amazing, especially now the summer has finally arrived and I can keep it cleaned properly.
I'm a serial meddler & modifier of everything I've ever owned, and the Jag is no different, and whilst the car retains a full Jag dealer service history, I'll be undertaking all of the mundane maintenance items such as brakes etc myself, but also some of the more challenging items once I have suitable lift access sorted.
Mods already tackled include :
The addition of a head unit Apple CarPlay interface
Full Dynamat lining across the entire floor pan, boot and doors.
Upgraded the standard Meridian speakers to the high output versions as OEM fitment on the factory spec upgrade
Added 20mm wheel spacers all round and squeezed on 305/30/20 & 265/35/20 Michelin PS4S tyres onto fully refurbished standard fit Gyrodyne wheels.
I swapped the paper air filters out for K&Ns within the first 6 weeks, but have recently moved onto cold air induction kits to release more of the supercharger noise
Project 7 front bumper conversion
Brakes have been uprated to cross drilled and grooved discs from MTEC with Mintex standard pads, (though these are soon to be replaced with EBC Yellow Stuff all round) to account for the engine upgrades
I've had both supercharger and crank pulleys swapped and engine mapped at Viezu, and the car delivers a very healthy 450hp and oodles of torque.
New 4D number plates, no fade logo door puddle lamps and dynamic wing mirror indicators have all been installed in the last month, and my most recent obsession has been with detailing the car, and finally getting a few unbroken days of dry weather to get a ceramic coating laid down on the car, which has been a revelation for the black paint which I have struggled to keep grime free for the last 18 months. (picture below post ceramic coating)
At June 2024.jpg
I'm very much enjoying my time with the F Type and can't see a day in the future when there won't be at least one in the garage!
My four adult children are also on board with this idea and all now seem to be coveting my F Type as well!
I've no idea on future plans for F17TPE in terms of mods, but I'm currently planning a week's roadtrip to Switzerland with my wife for September or October, and am looking to get the children involved in a track day or two this year also.
I'm attending Simply Jaguar at Beaulieu this coming weekend, so will hopefully get to meet many other like minded JEC members and Jag enthusiasts at the event.

Hi Dan and welcome!
I think your car is fabulous. I thought the coupe was better looking than the convertible from the first time i saw one. It has that in common with the E Type in my view. Black definitely shows them to best advantage too.
Delighted to hear that you enjoy your car so much - that is what our Club is about.
I will be at Beaulieu tomorrow and I think John Hunt will be also. He’s worth you seeking out as he’s our F Type Coordinator and will want to talk to you. I’m guessing that he’d also like to persuade you to put together an article on your car, the improvements you’ve made and your experience with it.
Hopefully see you tomorrow
Best wishes
David

Welcome to the Club, Dan. I love the story you have posted about your car and its mods. I would have enjoyed seeing it and meeting you in person at Beaulieu tomorrow. However, due to attention from the NHS, I've had to make a last minute decision to cry off. Hopefully, you'll bring the F-Type to the Summer Festival for another outing and even more of us will get to see it there. :D Mike.

Hi Dan great car and a great story.

I was wondering whether you would like to contribute to the magazine, probably for the F-TYPE model section - I am the F-TYPE model section coordinator - you can contact me at ftype@jecmodels.org.uk - what you have already written would fit very nicely into the column with perhaps a few additional pictures if you have them.

Thanks and welcome to the club John
