No OBD/diagnsotic connection

Hi all,

I am trying to connect a diagnostic tool to my XJS - without success. The car is a build in 9.1994, AJ16, VIN1967xx. The very same OBD scanner is working fine with another XJS.

The only reaction I get is a blinking LED at the cigarette lighter at each connection attempt.

Any suggestion what can be checked?

Peter,

The car should connect fine. However, the flashing led usually indicates the alarm is on.

What OBDII tool are you using? Have you got the engine running?

Hi Paul,
The other car was a 1995 AJ16 XJS, a Celebration model. The security LED is flashing there as well when a connection is established.
I tried two different testers. A Bosch KTS unit (proper garage equipment) and the JLR IDS.
Tried all kind of variants: Key-on, engine off; Key-on engine running etc. No difference at all.
