Hello,
I was hoping that you may be able to give me some advice on where to look for bad conections. My window switchs work when they want to one minute ok then nothing. I also get a bulb warning light when I put my lights on but I cannot see any bulb that has gone, when I am driving the warning light will go out then come back on again. I have also got no cigar lighter or speed control. Could this be down to a bad earth conection somewhere?
Any help would be great.
Thanks
Mike

hi,
i have replaced my center console loom, and all of the systems you are having problems with ( except the dash light ) go through one multi-block connection under the cover with the vent in , located in the passenger footwell ( uk )
take off the small trim with the vent on it and behind there you will find a black block connector, as all the systems go through this , it may be corroded , or even come apart ( but prolly corroded ),

be verry carefull pulling it apart, as you will probably pull out the internal pin sleeves , spray some wd40 on and wait a while b4 trying,

hope this helps

BB

ps, brand new looms for this can be bought on ebay for £20 all in, jaguar list the part at £1900 , yes, :!: 1 thousand nine hundred pound :!: :!:

pps..lol, the fibre optic unit is also supplied on the same cable, maybe this is causing the lamp failiure to come on ??

Lights which are connected into the 'bulb failure' circuits:
Tail lights
Brake lights
Number plate lights
Rear fog lights (I think)

Interestingly not the headlights (unless mine is broken) maybe jaguar thought if you're daft enough not to realise you've lost a headlight then you don't deserve any help!

It is normal for the bulb failure light to be on for a few seconds after switching the lights on. That is because some of the fault detector units work using bimetal switches so you have to wait for the thing to heat up and break the circuit! So I would guess you either have an intermittent bulb fault or you have a fault with one of these units.

Bulb fail light staying on, probably a numberplate light, if so giving the light a good thump I found quick way to get rid of the pesky dash light a while.

Fibre optic illuminator and dash illum don't have bulb fail warning presumably because as the driver, one would notice. Duh!

My windows switches went through a spate of not working unless you clicked them a few times, it was the switch contacts themselves covered in gunge inside.

Don't know about the other problems though.
