Bulb failure lamp problem solved

Postby poprivet » Sun Feb 25, 2024 4:26 pm

A while ago I mentioned that sometimes when braking and using the indicators at the same time I would get an intermittant lighting of the bulb failure lamp but it only happened rarely.

Checking the lights pre MOT I thought the left hand rear cluster didn't look quite right, on removal of the lens I could see that when the indicator was on, the stop and rear lamps also were glowing slightly.

Problem was solved by re-making the earth connection in the boot behind the lights.

Nice one! I've had 3 XJ-Ss now and only one of them (my current one) has ever had a working bulb failure system.

How did the MoT go?

Booked in soon. Doing a minor service and checkover first.

My 10 litres of oil arrived today - upsidedown! Luckily no spillage. Most unusual for Opie Oils. https://youtube.com/shorts/r86azKNiceg :o

Ah -- jolly good luck with it, I hope the old boat sails through, so to speak!
