Ignition Coil

1989 Jaguar xjs 5.3
My ignition coil is toasted to a crisp? Have ordered a new one Part No DAC4608.
Any ideas what could have caused this problem?

Hi. Can you clarify which ignition system you have? If it's a 1989 car then it's Marelli?

Yes, DAC4608 is a Marelli ignition coil.

I replaced both ignition coils in my 1989 jaguar XJS but car will not fire up? Could there be a problem with the ECU's ?
