Screen wash/wipe not working

Hi all. The screen wash reservoir on my 91 4.0 coupe is full, but the right-most warning light on the dash is on, the one that indicates the screen wash reservoir is empty. I'm not getting any water at the jets. Is this because the sensor is telling the system not to function as the reservoir is supposedly empty?

How do I go about accessing the reservoir, and if the sensor is faulty (I'm assuming there is a sensor!), how do I go about replacing/sorting it?

Any help much appreciated.

Simon

Hi Simon - My guess is that the tubing from the reservoir to the jets has broken down causing a blockage at the jets..

Not sure about the 4 ltr version, but as far as I recall, my 5.3 has the reservoir in the RH wing behind the headlights. The level sensor is a cork float and some manky contacts. With time and neglect you can grow green algae that block the gubbins.

Paul - The reservoir is as you describe. I wouldn't mind guessing that all models are the same.

Hi - your thought that the washers aren't working because the sensor is saying the bottle is empty is ingenious but I'm afraid the system isn't that clever!
The problem is going to be something more basic I'm afraid.
Can you hear the washer pump working?

If the pump is working it surely is collapsed tubing causing a blockage.

Thanks all. I can hear the pump working. Need to have a close look at all the tubing. The fact that the empty light is on when the reservoir is full is also an issue. Any advice on how to remove it and clean up contacts on sensor?
