My passenger window has stopped working. It was very sticky and required some help with your hand to push up. My servicer sprayed some lubricant down the sides which helped. However the window is now stuck. I have removed the interior trim to gain access to the regulator and the motor. When I press the switch I can hear a clicking sound from the motor.

The service manual requires the window to be down to gain access to the motor. However I am not able to get the window to budge. I'm not sure if replacing the motor is possible with the window in the up position or whether the regulator might be seized and therefore both require replacement.

I would appreciate some help.

all is not lost, the window can be removed, it just takes a little jiggling

get some wide tape, parcel tape or gaffer tape will do,

tape the window in the up position by putting the tape up the inside of the glass over the top of the door frame and down the other side, you only need a few inches of tape on the glass to hold it,

you can then work on the gear without fear of the glass dropping

one of the main causes for a sticky window is the runner, there is a removable eighteen inch section on the lower side under the door lock/handle, this is held in place by a single bolt in the edge of the door, this gets loose or even falls out allowing the runner to become miss-aligned , this can be the cause of the dodgy operation, it can eventually bugger the motor if not fixed quickly.

you already have the trim off, so locating it shouldnt be a problem, bear in mind that the felt/rubber window channel goes all the way round in one piece, and needs to be pulled away for removal

with the window in the up position , free off the link to the glass frame and try and operate the motor,

Hi BB,
Removed the channel and cleaned it + lubricated with Silacone spray. However I was unable to detach the window lift mechanism as the arm will not budge. I am going to go for replacing the motor and see how I get on. However I was able to take care of some rust while I was at it!

Located svc motor and regulator from Grubblogger (very helpful and knowledgeable). I have fitted this, recharged the battery and the window now shoots up and down a treat!!

In summary:
Removed the trim (bolt under the arm rest attachement) + couple of screws on the chrome plate for the door microswitch.
Removed the motor and regulator assy (Several bolts inlcuding one with a spacer that goes into the door itself.).
Lowered the window to dislocate the regulator arm.
Checked alignment of the channel (attached to the door by one bolt top and bottom).
Sprayed silacone spray in all the channels.
Refiited SVC motor and regulator asssy.
