Very old joke, sorry
However, I noticed yesterday that neither of the green warning lights on the dash were working. All the outside orange ones and hazzards were ok though.
I doubted it was the bulbs, it would be strange for both to fail at once but removed the cover to check. They are very fiddly to get out but they proved fine. I had hoped to use a multimeter to check for voltage and earthing but my Fluke digital multimeter couldn't cope with the constant switching and the earth readings were vague as they connect back to the flasher unit not directly to an earth.
Out came the whole instrument pod for a careful check of the printed circuit and connections, nothing out of the ordinary and continuity was fine between bulbs and multiplug connectors.
Pulled out the indicator unit and being inquisitive took it apart. Faced with transistors and resistors but nothing obviously burnt I put it all back together again.
I was fully expecting the flasher unit to be at fault but once the instrument pod was back in everything was working correctly again.
A mystery problem without a definitive answer, I can only assume a poor connection somewhere which my fiddling about had corrected. Time will tell I guess.
