Sourcing replacement facelift headlights

Postby AndyF » Sun Jun 14, 2020 8:52 am

Hello all,

Does anyone have any good suggestions about sources for good facelift headlamps? Had a lorry drop gravel in front of me on the M6 on Friday, and the resultant spray of stones smashed the nearside lamp (DAC7675?). Frustratingly, the silvering was pretty good in that one!

Have trawled ebay and contacted Graham Hallet (Grubblogger), neither having any.

I have also tapped up Rob Jenner to see if the JLRCP plan for replacement new headlamps got anywhere....

All ideas gratefully received!

Hi Andy - you could try Andy Harvey at Just XJS www.justxjs.co.uk 07940 998199. EuroJag may be worth a go www.eurojag.com 01325 722777
If you can't find any other option (and these facelift lamps are hard to find) then replacing them with the twin lamp conversion is an option. Depends whether you like the look or not I guess. https://www.sngbarratt.com/English/#/UK ... IOR(13599)
Hope that helps

Thanks David - I'll try both Andy and Eurojag... I'll also have a look to see if I can find anything in Oz or NZ. I have had some luck with NOS parts there before.

The twin light look is a really good idea, but I am trying to keep the car standard, if possible.

Take care

Hi Andy
These people appear to have one Price is 575,- €. Company All4Jags located in Silvolde (Holland). I did also see a couple on eBay recently. Owning a facelift myself I appreciate where you are coming from. Wish you success in locating one. Personally I don't like the twin set=up but accept it's a matter of personal taste.

Also don't forget Japan. XJSs went there as well.

Sorry if this is a statement of the obvious but please bear in mind that RHD and LHD lenses are different and you will not get the right beam pattern if you buy one from a LHD car.

Yes true, but if you look at the advert it is for a UK spec vehicle.

Hello all,

I thought I'd post a conclusion to my saga of the damaged headlamp.

After contacting everyone I could think of (including further prompts to JLR classic parts - I am hopeful that we have managed to push the new lamp project on with them a bit), Andy Harvey at JustXJS suggested I contact the guys at Simply Performance. A quick call to them and I found that they had 3 nearside lamps in stock. Dispatched via DPD to me and arrived 3 days after my initial call. The lamp was of good quality, with the internal silvering actually slightly better than the damaged lamp which I removed.

For completeness, I took the following pictures to show the removal and refit process.

Original damaged lamp

Trim ring removed - 3 screws removed

Accessing the difficult "11 o clock" fixing - the key fitting issue being accessing the T30 torx screws, with the use of a 6" extension bar and adjusting the lamp to the fully down and fully outboard position to gain access to the screw. The remaining 4 fixings were easy enough to access.

Continued..

Adjuster cables threaded back through the lamp can and the inner wing.

Replacement lamp - all installed.

I am really pleased with the end result - and a huge thank you to everyone who chipped in with ideas and suggestions on how to fix this!
