Zytek ECU Tuning/Diagnostics

And I've been speaking with Zytek UK for months already and have gotten nowhere. Apparently they are very busy with OEM stuff and have no time to dig up 25 year old schematics.

Re: Zytek ECU Tuning/Diagnostics
Solly,
I have a XJ40 running Janspeed Twin Turbos and a Zytek ecu. Would your kit be able to interface to this?
I see you have been looking at getting the kit replicated etc. Im good with electronics and wiring etc (run my own tuning company and have studied computer systems engineering). I'm willing to run tests on it with a digital scope and see if we can figure out the protocols.
I would imagine the difference between the 4 pin and 5 pin interface is most likely the 5pin is either pulled high or low and enables a programming mode.
I also have a friend with another Janspeed who is having a number of issues with his car and as such its now a non-runner. If it does interface to the Janspeed version and your willing to help a fellow owner out Im sure he would be most grateful.
Thanks
Jonathan

Re: Zytek ECU Tuning/Diagnostics
Unfortunately this interface box will only work with those on the TWR cars, the XJR-15, XJ220 and XJRS. I only have the software for the XJR15 and the XJ220.
I've been in touch with Continental engineering (the old Zytek) in the UK. They are going to get back to me about any spares they have, but I've been waiting on them since September and other than a phone call last week we haven't gotten anywhere.

Re: Zytek ECU Tuning/Diagnostics
Have a look at this thread on Jag-Lovers. There is an extensive discussion on reverse engineering Zytek diagnostic units, and it explains the differences between Zytek ecus used across a number of Jaguar cars. First issue is the ecu connector, which is a 7 pin round female on the Zytek unit itself (no OBD). Second and main issue is that no one, including Zytek, knows what's inside that interface box. All the components are buried in epoxy, so someone would need to donate one of the 24 sets ever made to have the epoxy boiled off and get a look at what's inside. As these kits cost approx. $75,000 from Jaguar to their dealers I don't know anyone willing to do that.

Re: Zytek ECU Tuning/Diagnostics
Hi everyone,
Do any of the blue Zytek interface boxes ever come up for sale?
These would have communicated with JagSport XJR-S and the Euro Aston DB7's (amongst many others).
Thanks.
