Back axle oil level check

Postby lowebird » Wed Sep 24, 2014 2:59 pm

Chaps,
Has anyone found an "easy" way to check the back axle oil level? Although I can get a spanner onto the square section of the plug, there is not enough room to move it.
Do I need to resort to removing the interior trim by the locker and go at it from above ( whilst checking the hand brake pads )
I hope we are all still fit for Sunday !!

Hello Reg. Yes the filling plug does look awful to get at maybe if one would fit it a socket with a uj joint might get it.May I ask why you need to check your level do you have a leak or oil wet area around your diff. I have found if there is no leak then unless you wish to do an oil change you should not need to check the level.( This is just my opinion ) cheers John

Hello John,
Thanks for the info and our discussion on the subject yesterday. Based on your advice, I will leave well alone, there are plenty of other things to play with !!!
