MOT this week and so I had to buy 2 new Blockleys for the rear. Blockleys are a good tyre and not too expensive when you compare them with other road race tyres. However to deliver the grip they need they are soft and wear out quickly. I do not dash about, above 65mph my hat blows off; so I am considering switching tyres to something with a harder compound and a longer life. is their anyone out their running their SS on anything other than Blockleys.

What tyres did you opt for finally and if different how do they compare with Blockleys?

Hi Ray
Despite my best intentions I am still running on Blockleys. I never seem to reach the point where I need to change all 4 at once.

Having reached the point where all 4 tyres needed replacing I looked around and decided that I would fit ... Blockleys again. I did consider their other tyre tread pattern but in the end decided that after 32000 miles I had never had an issue with the three block tyre and so I placed an order which arrived the next day.

I'm advised by Suffolk that Blockleys are the best all rounders for grip and ride

I agree with you Alan. They wear out quickly but are cheaper than the alternatives and the service from Blockley is first class.

I've probably only seen one Suffolk SS100 that wasn't on Blockleys.
They're pretty good when you consider the limitations of the tread design and crossply construction.
Braking in very wet conditions can be "interesting", as I found on my return journey from Grimsthorpe, when every press of the pedal was an adventure!
Plus I have the advantage of living only 20 minutes from MWS (Blockley's only UK dealer) at Langley, Berks, who also make the wheels.
