I have heard that the reason you are moving to a c-type is that you could never workout how to raise the hood on your SS100.

Reg, I hope you realise that a "proper" C-Type only has one door.

Hello Roy,
Did you enjoy the NEC, it's the first time for us and we really enjoyed it. We are now looking forward to the London show in Jan, hotel booked.
Now, there are many aspects to the "C", it has the 1951 body ( no air scoop ) but as it has 4 wheel discs it is more akin to the 1952 which ran in the Mille Miglia that year. As that is a road race with a navigator, I am going with the tale that it had to have a second door, I will research this so I can sound very confident.
The car has a "proper" C type head with 2" carbs and it goes like stink (I drove it in the summer ) so we now await an opportunity to go to the works to see it.

XKC003 - the 1951 Le Mans winner and Mille Miglia entrant - had a passenger door, but without hinges:
"The centre section has a bolt in passenger door. For Le Mans it ran with a single aeroscreen (with no perspex) and at the Mille Miglia with a full width perspex screen and no aeroscreen" (from the blog of the builder of the XKC003 replica).
