Back seat leather disintegrating 1973 Daimler Sovereign

To my surprise and horror I discovered that the rear leather seat is disintegrating.

Anyone know the likely cause?? The guy in the body shop who replaced the left sill could not throw any light on the matter???

Sad to read of your leather back seat problem.
The leather is now some forty years old and depending as to where the vehicle is parked/stored as to how it will last. As you don't say. I'm guessing that the deterioration is across the top edge just in front of the rear parcel shelf, if so, it would appear that years of sunshine through the rear screen has taken it's toll.

You will have seen there is an advert for a Seminar coming up which will be run by the Furniture Clinic people, they are the folks to consult not your friendly welder. Photo's I've seen showing results are most impressive
